Memphis, Tenn., — Heading into 2018 on a high note, the Lady Magicians of LeMoyne-Owen College are on a roll to start a four game home stretch, defeating nonconference opponent Concordia College, 90-33 on Tuesday night.

LOC’s routing of the Lady Hornets was a showing of togetherness, good ball movement, and solid defense as the Lady Magicians move to 8-6 overall and 5-3 in the SIAC.
Highlights from Tuesday’s game featured a barrage of defensive attacks on the opponent, leading to forced turnovers and easy buckets for LeMoyne. Memphis native, KYanna Terry made her presence felt in the post, as the sophomore center took a charge in the first quarter setting the tone early for her Magicians. Leading 47-16 at the half, the Lady Magicians kept their foot on the throttle as the contagious spirit of hustle and effort echoed throughout the game propelling LeMoyne-Owen to its third consecutive victory.
LOC hosts Rust College next in a nonconference doubleheader.

Memphis, Tenn., — LeMoyne-Owen College had three Lady Magicians finish in double-digit scoring as LOC handed the Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers their first loss in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, with a 59-48 victory.
Saturday’s big road win boosted LeMoyne-Owen to second place in the SIAC West Division with a 7-6 overall record and a record of 5-3 in conference play.
The Lady Magicians won the rebounding battle 46-44, and had 27 points from their reserves compared to CAU’s five bench points. LOC’s Taylor Johnson-Prackett cleaned up the glass leading the Lady Magicians with 10 rebounds. Senior Tenesha Wright followed suit, grabbing eight rebounds to go with nine points. LeMoyne-Owen shot 64% from the free-throw line (16-25) and 41.7% from behind the arc (5-12).
Corlisha Howard fueled the Lady Magicians in the first half attacking the basket to give LOC a 27-23 advantage at the break. Howard and Lamontazia Blair combined for 27 points, as Blair shot near perfect from the charity stripe (9-11) and recorded a game-high two blocks to go with 13 points.
The Lady Panthers trailed by one, 40-39, with 7:32 left in the game after a Naomi Holloway jumper, but LeMoyne-Owen outscored CAU 19-9 the rest of the way to secure the ‘W’. Chicago native Dana Gettis caught fire putting up 12 points in the second half to lead LeMoyne-Owen scorers with 15 total. Clark Atlanta had three Lady Panthers finish in double figures, led by Marissa Mandeldove with 16 points.
The Lady Magicians return to the floor Tuesday, January 9, against nonconference opponent Concordia College. LOC defeated the Lady Hornets, 88-84 back on Nov. 21, 2017, in Selma, AL. This will be the first of a four game home stand for the Lady Magicians.

Selma, Ala. — Looking for your fix of college hoops to bring in the Thanksgiving season? Look no further because the LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) women’s basketball team have got your back.
The Lady Magicians (0-3) are on the road again, as they travel to Concordia College Alabama (CCA) in Selma, Tuesday, Nov. 21, to face the Lady Hornets.
Game time is set for 5:30 PM ET.
LOC has come up short in their last two outings, suffering tough one point losses to University of Illinois Springfield (67-66), and the Choctaws of Mississippi College (80-79). Hungry for a victory, the Lady Magicians will have to dig deep for each other, and for their first road win against non-conference opponent Concordia.
The CCA Lady Hornets (4-2) are members of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and participate at the Division I level for women’s basketball. Under head coach Howard White, the Lady Hornets are reigning 2016-17 USCAA national champions. Coming off a 79-52 loss at the hands of Paul Quinn College, the Lady Hornets aim to keep their 2-0 home record unblemished against the Lady Magicians.
