Indianapolis, Ind., – Wednesday’s WNBA action features a doubleheader on NBA TV starting with the Washington Mystics at Indiana, followed by the New York Liberty at Las Vegas.
The Mystics (20-11) are setting their sights high as they look to lock down the No. 2 seed in the playoffs currently being occupied by the Atlanta Dream. The Mystics are just a game and a half behind the Dream, for the precious No. 2 seed, which earns a double-bye in the playoffs. Washington looks to take care of business against the Indiana Fever and push their six game win streak to seven. In Sunday’s victory over Dallas, rookie Ariel Atkins led the Mystics with a career-high 26 points in the win. After Indiana’s momentous back to back wins, the Fever have drifted back into old habits dropping three straight games. Indiana fell to Las Vegas on Saturday, as Erica Wheeler paced the Fever with 13 points. Despite a not so great season record wise, the Fever’s rookie duo of Kelsey Mitchell and Victoria Vivians continue to make a name for themselves becoming the first rookie pair on the same team to both make more than 60 3-point field goals in a season. Tune in to NBA TV at 7 PM ET, to watch the Mystics and the Fever battle at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Rounding out Wednesday’s action is the Liberty (7-24) and the Aces (13-18) at 10 PM ET. This matchup is especially important for the Aces, who in their first year in Las Vegas have a chance to tie for the eighth and final playoff spot with Dallas, who is just a half game ahead. With the Wings falling into a nine game slump, Las Vegas has to make these last three games of the season count if they want a shot at the postseason. Standing in their path is a prideful New York squad who look to dead their ten game losing streak. The Liberty who fell to the L.A. Sparks on Tuesday, continue to fight to end the season on a positive note. Tina Charles led the Liberty with 21 points. Catch the Aces and the Liberty on NBA TV tonight.
