Several Teams Carry Streak Into Tonight’s Action

August 7, 2018 – Get ready for a terrific Tuesday, as the WNBA has four games of nonstop basketball action coming your way. Tipping off at 7 PM ET are the Las Vegas Aces (12-15) and the Atlanta Dream (18-10) on NBA TV. The Dream look to carry their two game win streak home as they host the Aces in their second meeting this season. Atlanta is coming off a 20-point win over the defending champs: Minnesota, after a strong performance from Tiffany Hayes. Hayes who’s had a stellar year scored a season-high 28 points, hitting a career best of six three-pointers to lead the Dream to victory. Alex Bentley also added 19 points for the Dream as Atlanta clings to the No. 2 spot in league standings. Las Vegas is still fighting for a place in the playoffs after falling to Connecticut on Sunday. A’ja Wilson led the Aces with 24 points followed by Kelsey Plum’s 21 point performance.

Also battling at 7 PM ET, are the Indiana Fever (5-23) and Seattle Storm (22-7). Both teams are coming off wins over the New York Liberty as they both look to keep their success going. Seattle defeated the Liberty on Monday, 96-80 behind a strong performance from Breanna Stewart and company. Stewart tallied 32 points in the victory, while Natasha Howard was all over the stat sheet with 14 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, and five blocks. With the victory, Seattle clinched their spot in the playoffs as they prepare to finish out the regular season strong. Indiana defeated New York on Saturday behind a solid defensive performance that held the Liberty to just two points in the final quarter. Candice Dupree recorded a season-high 25 points in the win, while Natalie Achonwa, Erica Wheeler, and Cappie Pondexter all tallied 10 points. Erica Wheeler would also reach a huge a milestone notching her 1,000th career point in the victory.

The defending champions hit the floor tonight at 8:30 PM ET, against the Chicago Sky (10-18). The Minnesota Lynx (15-13) are trying to get out of their funk after dropping three games straight. Both the Lynx and the Sky are coming off losses to the Atlanta Dream as the two squads look to get back on track. The Lynx were led by Sylvia Fowles with 17 points and 10 rebounds in Sunday’s loss. Courtney Vandersloot paced the Sky with 24 points in Chicago’s loss on Friday. Be sure to catch the Lynx and the Sky live on Twitter.

Capping off the night are the Washington Mystics (16-11) and the Phoenix Mercury (16-13) at 10 PM ET. The Mystics look to use Sunday’s win over Dallas as a stepping stone to continue their win streak. Kristi Toliver would hit the go-ahead jumper to lift the Mystics to a 76-74 win, in which she finished with 16 points.

Phoenix looks to turn things around after a tough 78-75 loss to the L.A. Sparks. Brittney Griner and DeWanna Bonner led the Mercury with 22 and 20 points, respectively. Tune in to NBA TV for the Mercury versus Mystics game at 10 PM ET.
