Memphis, Tenn., — After falling to the Lady Marauders back on Dec. 2, the LeMoyne-Owen Lady Magicians would host Central State University at C. Arthur Bruce/Jerry C. Johnson Hall Saturday evening.
“One of our points of emphasis going into this game is making sure we take care of the ball, ” Head Women’s basketball Coach Antony Partee stated during pre-game. “We can’t give the other team more opportunities.”
Trailing the Lady Marauders 37-27 at the break, LOC began to chip away at CSU’s lead attacking the basket to pull within five heading into the final 10 minutes. However, the Lady Magicians gave up one too many turnovers allowing Central State to come away with the 75-64 victory.
Tenesha Wright finished with a game-high 24 points and 11 rebounds for LOC, followed by Dana Gettis’s 21 points and four assist. Nashville native Lamontazia Blair, added 11 points and four steals.
Brooke Spaulding led the Lady Marauders in scoring with 12 points.
LeMoyne-Owen is now 9-9 overall, and 6-6 in conference play. The Lady Magicians will see Kentucky State University (7-13, 6-6 SIAC) on Monday, Jan. 29 in Bruce/Johnson Hall for another conference match-up. Tip-off is at 5:30 PM CST.
