Tuskegee, Ala., — LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) men’s and women’s basketball teams prepare for a two-game road trip beginning at the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University (TU) on Saturday, Jan. 20.
Tip-off for this Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) double header is set for 1:00 p.m. for the women, and 3:00 p.m., for the men in the Daniel “Chappie” James Arena.
The Lady Magicians (9-7, 5-3 SIAC) held on for the 66-59 victory over Tougaloo College in an exhibition match on Thursday night, where four Lady Magicians reached double-digit scoring. Chicago native, Shantiera Miller led the way with 17 points. Tougaloo’s Debraia Bell paced the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points.
LOC will resume conference play at Tuskegee, who is 2-14 overall and 1-7 in the SIAC. The Lady Tigerettes dropped a close game to Central State (CSU), falling 68-60 on Jan.16. Jade Wilson led TU with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
LeMoyne-Owen men’s basketball (6-10, 2-8 SIAC) fell to Tougaloo College, 80-72 in the exhibition match on Thursday after a strong outing against Spring Hill earlier in the week. LOC will visit the Golden Tigers who are 2-14 overall and 1-7 in the SIAC, after falling to CSU 56-48. TU’s Daniel Roach posted 13 points for the Golden Tigers, while Jason Pasley grabbed 13 rebounds in the loss.
