Atlanta, Ga., — After a close first half, in which the Fort Valley State University Wildcats trailed the LOC Magicians 33-28, FVSU would pull off the road win Saturday night, 76-72.
To open the second half, the Wildcats would make a statement off a steal by guard Jaylon McMillan who lobbed it up to Jamaal Garror for the slam. The Magicians would remain poised and answer as the two teams went back and forth in a game that saw three lead changes. The Wilcats would lead by as much as 11, halfway through the second half, but LOC hung on til the very end, forcing FVSU to make their free-throws.
The Magicians shot 42% from the field (27-65), 26% from three (5-19), and 72% from the charity stripe (13-18). Both FVSU and LOC had four players each finishing in double-digits. The Wildcats were led by McMillan with 18 points. LOC’s Jaequan Brown and Aston Morton each posted 11 points on the evening, while Rashawn Ellis added 14 points and 4 rebounds. Demba Konate led all scorers with 19 points, including a 3-PT shot on the last play of the game for LeMoyne. Box score.
LeMoyne-Owen (4-8, 1-6 SIAC) travels to Atlanta for a two-game road trip beginning at the unbeaten Morehouse College (11-0, 6-0 SIAC) followed by Clark Atlanta University.
