Magicians Defeat Harding, 81-67 in Nonconference Play

Memphis, Tenn., — The LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) Magicians men’s basketball team had an electric first half against nonconference opponent, Harding University (HU) in Tuesday night’s match-up. Box scores.

The Magicians would jump out to a 23-point lead (46-23) sending the crowd into a frenzy after back-to back SLAMS to end the first half. Senior guard Dareyon Terrell led the break off a defensive rebound lobbing it up to fellow senior Aston Morton for jam #1. After a quick time-out by the Bisons, the Magicians LOCked-in on ‘D’ as Terrell came away with the steal and threw it up to senior Anthony Green for jam #2.

After a rough start, shooting just 23% from the field, Harding (0-6, 0-4) made a 9-1 run midway through the second half to cut LOC’s lead to 12 at the 10:32 mark. Refusing to give up, the Bisons came within 12 on two more occasions shooting 53% from the field in the final half. However, HU would get no closer to catching the Magicians who capitalized on their first half momentum and never looked back, defeating the Bisons 81-67.

Morton recorded his first double-double of the season with 13 points and 19 rebounds to go along with 5 assists, while junior Jaequan Brown was just shy of his second adding 20 points and 9 boards. Green also finished with 13 points, 5 assist, and a game-high 6 steals.

The Bisons were led in scoring by Tim Wagner and Preston Anderson with 15 points each. LOC’s Rashawn Ellis led all scorers with 25 points and 8 rebounds.

The Magicians improve to (3-6, 0-4) and face the Bulldogs of Tougaloo College (6-2, 0-0) Friday, Dec. 15 at 6 PM in Mississippi.
