Storm, Sparks Game Preview

To close out the night and today’s stretch of games, the Los Angeles Sparks (14-6) will host the Seattle Storm (9-11) at Staples Center.

The Sparks who are just three games behind the Minnesota Lynx for the best record in the league, have lost three of their last five games, including their first home loss. Los Angeles now 9-1 at Staples Center, fell to the Chicago Sky 82-80 on July 20. Looking to wrap up their four-game homestand with a win tonight, the Sparks will face San Antonio Friday. In Saturday’s All-Star game, Nneka Ogwumike scored 22 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in the West’s victory. Candace Parker added 13 and Chelsea Gray put up 11 points in her All-Star debut.

Seattle had the pleasure of hosting the WNBA All-Star 2017, where Sue Bird represented in the 3-point contest, and Breanna Stewart made her first All-Star appearance. Bird who is tied with Tamika Catchings at 10 for most All-Star appearances, scored 8 points and had 11 assists in the West’s victory. Stewart added 9. Having also fallen to Chicago before break, the Storm aim to seize the season series tonight, before heading home to face Dallas.
