At 7 p.m. ET in Mohegan Sun Arena, the defending champs the Los Angeles Sparks will battle the Connecticut Sun.
The Sparks who hold the No. 2 spot in the league are currently 9-3 overall and look to extend their five-game win streak to six with a win over the Sun, before wrapping up their three game road trip on Friday, June 30 in Atlanta. The Sparks are led by trio Nneka Ogwumike, Candice Parker, and Chelsea Gray. Oguwmike has dominated offensively with 20.3 ppg and 6.7 rpg. Parker, who was the 2017 WNBA Player of the Week for games played June 12-18, also tallying 16.9 ppg, 7.7 rpg, and 4.7 apg is coming off a double double (18 pts., 13 rebs.) after defeating the Indiana Fever on Saturday. Gray averages 15.9 ppg and 4.3 apg for the Sparks.
The Sun who are 6-6 overall and have won five of their last six games look to bring the Sparks’ current win streak to a halt. The Sun are led by forward/center, Jonquel Jones, who averages 15.5 ppg and 11.7 rpg. Jones, was also 2017 WNBA Player of the Week in the East for games played June 12-18, and is one to watch down the road. Guard Jasmine Thomas leads the team in assists with 4.9 apg and tallies 13.2 ppg on average. Alyssa Thomas is second on the team in scoring with 13.6 ppg, and adds 5.5 rpg, and 4.6 apg.
