Wheeler Propels Fever Over Dream

Tonight’s WNBA match-up between the Indiana Fever vs the Atlanta Dream, was one to remember. At Banker’s Life Fieldhouse, the Fever played host to the Dream in the first of three meetings this season.

With star guard Briann January out with injury, Erica Wheeler, has been on fire stepping up for her team scoring double figures for the fourth straight game. Wheeler came out strong against the Dream, hitting not one, but two buzzer beaters to end both the half and the third quarter. With a wave of momentum, Wheeler helped carry her team to a 85-74 victory over Atlanta. Wheeler finished with 20-points, 3-rebounds, and 7-assists. After going scoreless in the first half, guard Tiffany Mitchell pitched in 14-points and 3-assist as the team’s second-leading scorer. The team played solid defense and out-rebounded Atlanta 33-29. Forwards Marissa Coleman and Candice Dupree each finished with 10-points to add to the Fever’s home win. Tonight’s win moves Indiana to 5-6 overall on the season.

On the opposite side, the Dream were led by guard, Tiffany Hayes and forward, Bria Holmes each tallying 17-points. Former Fever guard, Layshia Clarendon finished the night with 9-points, 3-rebounds, and 8-assists. This loss puts Atlanta at 5-5 overall this season as they wrap up their five-game road trip with a 1-4 record.
